Security Operations Lead
InternetNZ is the home and guardian of .nz, providing the infrastructure, security and support to keep it humming. We help New Zealanders harness the power of the Internet through our community grants, research and policy. The Security Operations Lead maintains situational awareness for security issues at InternetNZ group and provides advice to business owners on managing security risks. The security operations duties also include capability development and incident response. The role is challenging and varied including personnel, physical and information security. This is a new team in a diverse and important organisation.
What you will do
We’re building a new security team and you’ll be the second member. In this role you will take the lead on building our security detection systems, monitoring for incidents, and kicking off response when required. You will also help with support and advice to other business units on risk assessment & recommending security mitigations.
What we are looking for
Security is a challenging and rewarding career. We are looking for candidates who understand the complexities of information security and can find a way through ambiguity to help increase our awareness and management of risks. In this role you will need experience designing and implementing detection systems, analysing suspicious events, and working with varied teams to understand their risk and identify possible mitigation strategies.
If you also have experience with other domains of security such as physical and personnel security that is a plus. An understanding of risk management frameworks is important, although direct experience isn’t necessary.
Communication and collaboration are important in this role. You will need to influence others to understand the tradeoffs of security and make the right decisions.
