COVID-19 - keeping .nz running

InternetNZ and the Domain Name Commission are fully focused on keeping .nz running.

Updated: 2 April 2020

During the COVID-19 situation the domain name system is a critical piece of technology. People need to be able to easily reach the online information they need, even more so in a crisis situation.

We will keep .nz running.

Resilience and performance is our focus at InternetNZ. The Domain Name Commission (info about their approach is here) is keeping a close eye on .nz domain name registrations that might try to take advantage of the situation to cause harm.

You can still register .nz domain names through our registrars, lodge queries or disputes with the Commission, and contact us about any other aspect of our work.

As an organisation we are focused too on looking after our staff.

We are all working from home, and our systems and processes were designed for remote working.

We may be a shade slower than usual at responding, but we are at work and we will come back to you.

As we adjust our plans in response to this situation, we will share news on this page. Our Council meets on Friday 27 March, and you can expect an update early next week.

Kia kaha, Kia māia, Kia manawanui - Be strong, be brave, be steadfast.
