Copyright for innovation

Copyright law affects all of us - determining what New Zealanders can access and share online.

Does New Zealand copyright law support local innovation? Has it kept up with changes in the Internet and other technologies?

InternetNZ invites you to a public event exploring these questions, at the University of Auckland and hosted by their Department of Commercial Law.

We will hear from International experts on copyright and innovation:

  • Michael Geist - Leading expert on copyright and technology in Canada
  • William Patry - Senior Copyright Counsel at Google
  • Meredith Jacob - Assistant Director, Academic Programs, Program on Information Justice and Intellectual Property, American University Washington College of Law

There will also be lightning talks from locals at the forefront of making and sharing great creative works (media, filmmakers, educators) who will share their experiences with copyright law in New Zealand. Drinks and nibbles provided.

This event will also be live-streamed and you can watch it from this link

RSVP for this event by 16 Feb here.
