Members meet-ups: February 2016

InternetNZ members are invited to one or more of our members meet-ups for the first part of 2016.  The point of these get-togethers is to give members the chance to mix and mingle with each other and with staff. We will share ideas about InternetNZ's work and future plans, and sometimes talk through some issues that rate a bit higher on the trickiness scale. Some nibbles and light refreshments will be provided. 

Staff will be bringing two items in particular to the table for these sessions:
  • InternetNZ's "focus areas" for 2016; and 
  • Product and Service (business) development approach.

We hope you will make it along to one of the physical meet-ups or take part online.

Focus Areas: Staff have drafted three proposed areas for InternetNZ to focus its proactive work in 2016: Access, Use and Trust. In each Area two Projects for 2016 are proposed. Input is sought by 18 February on whether the areas are right, whether the Projects make sense, and whether the Goals for each Project are suitably ambitious. Product and Service Development: a Discussion Pack has been prepared by staff. It reminds readers of the case for developing new products and services to drive new income; reminds of what was proposed in November 2015; summarises the feedback and discussion on that November proposal; and closes by suggesting some changes to the approach based on that feedback, as well as some high level principles to guide this work. And as an extra treat, they have also offered to give away a few vouchers for their private cloud, based here in NZ.

As well as the in-person meetups, we'd like to convene an online discussion of these topics and for others to be raised, on Wednesday 10 February 5.30 - 6.30pm. We will be using Skype for this meeting but participants will also be given a number to call in, using their landline or mobile. We won't use video, to be kind to those on low bandwidth connections. Calling details will be sent out closer to the date.
