New Zealand’s favourite Internet gathering, NetHui, is winding its way down South on its Roadtrip this year, making Greymouth – the heart of the West Coast – its second destination on 11 October 2018.
NetHui brings people together to discuss the future of the Internet and the challenges and opportunities the Internet brings to us all. InternetNZ has helped to bring NetHui to New Zealanders interested in the future of the Internet since 2011.
InternetNZ CEO, Jordan Carter says, “We’ve all been proud to watch NetHui grow, especially as the Internet plays a more prominent role in our lives. We’re excited to take NetHui on the road again so that every New Zealander has the opportunity to not only participate but lead with the issues that matter most to them.”
Mequa Hourston, Communications and Marketing Manager for Tai Poutini Polytechnic says Tai Poutini Polytechnic is very pleased to be hosting the event and Greymouth, and the wider West Coast region, is excited to welcome the NetHui National Road trip in 2018.
“This is a great opportunity for our people to come together and talk about how we can make the most of the opportunities the Internet can offer our region.
“The West Coast is a unique place, stretching from Karamea in the north to Haast in the south. We’re bounded by the Southern Alps and Tasman Sea – making our home a stunning place to live and visit but also providing some unique challenges to communication and traditional business operations.
“Emerging Internet-based technology trends pose some exciting opportunities for us and we’re looking forward to talking through all the possibilities and challenges at NetHui later this year,” says Mequa Hourston.
Jordan Carter is looking forward to seeing the NetHui Roadtrip programme unfold. “We welcome this region’s contribution – to build the NetHui West Coast programme – with topics that will be most useful for you and your community. So whether you're a small business owner, an educator, someone from the tech sector or simply someone who enjoys the Internet, NetHui is a space for you."
The NetHui Advisory Committee is looking for participants to help them build the NetHui West Coast Roadtrip programme. If you’re interested in discussing the Internet issues we face today then they want to hear from you.
Keep an eye on the NetHui website and NetHui social media channels for updates on when and how you can help build the NetHui West Coast programme.
