We sponsor events and awards in New Zealand that align with our goal of an open Internet for all of New Zealand.

Sponsorship decisions are made by the InternetNZ staff who sit on the Sponsorship Committee. We distribute $50,000 annually, approved by our Chief Executive. We consider sponsorship applications every two months, according to our sponsorship process guide.

Applications are assessed on their fit with InternetNZ’s Mission, the likelihood of success and their potential for community impact for the sector.

Our annual sponsorship funding has already been allocated to great events this year. Applications will open again in 2019.  Check in then.

New Zealand Open Source Awards

The Open Source Awards provides a chance to recognise and celebrate the outstanding work done with free and open source software and the artistic, scientific and social outcomes it delivers in New Zealand. The awards in 2018 will look at the successes over the last two years.

The Great Southern Unconference

The Great Southern Unconference (GSUC) is an event that aims to promote the interconnectedness of science, technology, arts, humanities and social sciences. It uses a proven 'unconference' format in which there's no set agenda—the plan for the weekend is determined on the first evening. The GSUC works on an invite-only basis but is free for invitees to attend. We’re inviting people from business, politics, the humanities, creative arts, education, local government, academia and the whole community to collaborate.

The International Internet Preservation Consortium - General Assembly and Web Archiving Conference

The Conference presents a programme of presentations, workshops, panels and posters that reflects both the mature achievements in web archiving over the past 20 years as well as the range of challenges for this critical task of accurately collecting and preserving our online culture and discourse. The Conference programme ranges over national, community and collaborative collecting initiatives, developments in the vital tools and processes to capture and preserve online content and initiatives to support access and facilitate research using web archives.
