Disappointed to see CERT NZ fold into the GCSB without broader engagement

The Government has confirmed it will fold CERT NZ into the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), within the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB).
InternetNZ is disappointed that this decision has been taken without broad public engagement.
In May this year, we identified a number of potential risks we saw with the proposal. This included the risk that the merger could undermine trust and affect the ability of CERT NZ to operate effectively. We urged the government to consult with the communities that CERT NZ works with and serves.
