New Constitution passes at InternetNZ SGM, second motion fails
A strong majority of InternetNZ members — more than four out of five voters — voted to adopt the InternetNZ Draft Constitution at the Special General Meeting on 31 March.
Of the 185 eligible members who voted, 85% approved the new constitution, while 67.5% voted against bringing the alternative constitutional options for further consultation at July’s Annual General Meeting.
InternetNZ President Stephen Judd says the outcome shows strong member support for what is a modern and fit-for-purpose Constitution.
“InternetNZ has followed a robust and extensive process to get to this point and it’s incredibly gratifying that the majority of members support where we’ve landed.”
Stephen Judd says most members saw no need to reopen the constitutional discussions represented by Motion 2.
“It’s pleasing that the process we’ve followed has resulted in a document that meets members' expectations. I'd like to thank everyone who has contributed their time and effort to ensure we developed a constitution that brings us together as an organisation and positions us well for the future.”
The new Constitution will take legal effect on registration under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022. InternetNZ expects this process to take around two weeks.
