Join our Board — nominations open
Are you an InternetNZ | Ipurangi Aotearoa member and ready to help shape the future of our organisation?
Nominations are now open for the 2025 InternetNZ Board elections!
If you’re passionate about an open and secure internet, care about digital equity and want to play a part in guiding our future, this is your moment. As a member-driven organisation, we rely on strong governance to deliver on our mission — and that starts with you.
What’s happening and when?
This year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held online on Thursday, 31 July 2025 from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm.
Ahead of that, we’re electing two new Board members to govern InternetNZ. The nomination period is open now and closes at 5.00 pm on Thursday, 3 July.
Whether you’ve served on a Board before or this is your first time stepping into governance, if you’ve got skills, experience, and a commitment to our kaupapa or purpose, we’d love to hear from you.
How to get involved
Nominate yourself or someone else:
- Any Eligible Member (someone who’s been a member for at least three months from the time of nomination) can nominate another Eligible Member — or themselves! You’ll find the nomination form on our 2025 Board nominations page.
Review the Candidate Information Pack:
- Before you submit, make sure you’ve reviewed the 2025 Candidate Information Pack, which includes everything you need to know about Board responsibilities, campaign guidelines, time commitments, and what we’re looking for.
Submit the required materials:
- Nominees will be asked to provide a recent photo, short video (optional), and a written candidate profile. These will be shared on our website so members can get to know each candidate before voting.
What’s new this year?
We’re mixing things up with a more flexible and inclusive approach to campaigning. Instead of a live ‘Meet the Candidates’ session, nominees will share a short video introducing themselves and their vision for InternetNZ. These videos will be published on our website (via YouTube) and promoted throughout the election period, so you can see who’s running when it suits you.
We’re also encouraging candidates to engage with members through our online community space, NetHub, as well as via their own social channels or events (online or in-person). It’s all about open dialogue and respectful, constructive discussion.
Voting details
Voting will take place online from 14 to 29 July 2025, using the Single-Transferable Vote (STV) system. This provides the opportunity to rank candidates in order of preference — it’s fair, proportional, and easy to use. More info is available in our electoral system explanation page.
Why your voice matters
InternetNZ Board Members aren’t just figureheads — they play a real role in shaping the internet in Aotearoa New Zealand. From strategic oversight to policy direction and digital leadership, your vote helps ensure that our Board reflects the values, skills and perspectives that guide the organisation forward.
If you believe in the power of safe, accessible, and open internet — and want to be part of the team making that happen — step forward or support someone who should.
