Members decide motions at AGM 2026
InternetNZ members voted on one Board motion and eight member motions during its 2026 InternetNZ Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 13 August.
Internet New Zealand is an incorporated society, which means its eligible members can propose motions to be considered at the Annual General Meeting.
All voting took place in real-time using the integrated Mi-Voice platform within Zoom.
Only eligible members (those who had been members for at least three months before the AGM and registered to attend in advance) were able to vote on the motions.
Motions which proposed constitutional changes, which this year were motions 1 and 8, required a two-thirds majority vote of eligible members present at the AGM. Other motions required a simple majority (more than half) of eligible members to be passed.
The outcomes of each motion are listed below.
The Board will now consider next steps for each motion.

This motion notes the InternetNZ Strategy 2026–2031 goal of reaching 1,000,000 domains by 2031. It requests the Board report annually, starting in the 2026–27 Annual Report, on research regarding why .nz domain names are chosen, kept, or dropped. Furthermore, it requires the Board to include metrics for domain retention and related research in the Statement of Service Performance, beginning in the 2027–28 financial year. |
