InternetNZ at NZNOG 2025
The registry arm of InternetNZ, .nz, was proud to be the naming sponsor for NZNOG (New Zealand Network Operators' Group), the biggest annual NZNOG conference to date!
A small contingent of our kaimahi (staff) attended the event in Napier from 7 to 11 April and were proud to support NZNOG as a team, staying connected to the people and technologies that keep Aotearoa’s Internet running.
Almost 200 people from across the Internet and the network operations community of Aotearoa came together to share knowledge, connect, and learn from each other.
As long-time supporters of NZNOG, we love the chance to learn something new, share our work, and catch up with industry peers who have long become friends over the years.
Our presentations
Internet Governance
Our Internet Governance Lead, Jodi, brought some Internet Governance energy to NZNOG this year, with an update on the global landscape that’s moving faster (and getting messier) than ever.
Jodi discussed WSIS+20, multistakeholderism, and the battle over the future of the Internet you’ve (probably) never even heard about. Highlighting why it matters that the technical community shows up and stays engaged in these global kōrero.
Jodi also shared the exciting work of the Technical Community Coalition for Multistakeholderism (TCCM), which we helped establish since last year’s NZNOG.
The governance of the Internet isn’t just a policy thing — it’s a technical community thing too.
DNSSEC for .nz: post-incident recovery and improvement
One of our senior systems administrators presented on DNSSEC for .nz, specifically our post-incident recovery and improvement efforts. The presentation included a summary of our DNSSEC incident in May 2023, our road to recovery and how we have increased our awareness with new monitoring features.
