The Panel dives deeper on .nz policy issues
Anonymous •
At our November .nz Panel meeting, we explored feedback from a wide range of New Zealanders as part of our policy review for the .nz domain name space and the issues identified.
We learned a lot about the views of New Zealanders from our recent engagement which included a survey to the public (analysis is here), a NetHui discussion session on the future of .nz (watch it here), and targeted stakeholder focus groups and telephone interviews. We received feedback on the perceived issues in the domain name space but also what people think is important related to security, openness, accessibility, privacy, e-commerce, and the Treaty of Waitangi.
Our meeting was an opportunity to dive deeper and use the work to feed into our issues report scheduled for release in early 2020. This will be an exciting milestone in the review. It will consolidate the issues identified from the public engagement, the Panel’s research and views, as well as information from InternetNZ as the .nz kaitiaki.
You may have seen InternetNZ released its initial briefing to the Panel last month. This briefing was used as a launch pad for our work. We have added our own analysis and views to this, and those of the recent stakeholder feedback.
Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback. If you missed out on giving us yours, there will be a further opportunity in early-mid 2020 before we provide InternetNZ our recommendations in the middle of next year.
