Harassment and the Internet

Harassment and the Internet was an InternetNZ Speaker Series event that took place on 8 September 2016 - both in Wellington and online.

The purpose of the event was to look at how online harassment can be prevented, dealt with and have the harm it causes addressed.

The event featured:

  • Niels ten Oever - Head of Digital at Article 19
  • Ruth MacIntyre - Digital Media Advisor for Women's Refuge
  • Emily Writes - blogger and writer
  • Martin Cocker - Executive Director of NetSafe as the Approved Agency for the Harmful Digital Communications Act

Handy resource

InternetNZ has since put together a one-page resource. It explains how online harassment can be defined, the options people have to report instances of online harassment and some general rules for online etiquette.
