Regulation can struggle to keep up with the pace of technological change. The New Zealand Initiative and Internet NZ have compiled some of New Zealand’s successes and failures in a new report that argues that New Zealand should strive for permission-less innovation. How close are we to that idea? In this discussion session, James Ting-Edwards and Eric Crampton briefly noted some of their findings and sought advice from participants about whether they have hit the right areas, or whether there are important regulatory and policy barriers to innovation that they have missed. This discussion has helped scoped future work in the area for both organisations.
Authored by Dr Eric Crampton, The New Zealand Initiative and James Ting-Edwards, InternetNZ. The Report was launched at NetHui 2017. If you wish to watch the session you can so here
