Building the NetHui programme

Ellen StricklandA blog post from Ellen Strickland, Community Programme Director of InternetNZ

31 July 2017

We have been gathering thoughts about the NetHui 2017 programme and I am excited to read the dozens of ideas and suggestions that have come through so far. I wanted to invite people one last time to get involved and let you know the next steps, where the NetHui community will start bringing the 2017 programme together.

We are still keen to hear from people who want to get involved in this year's event or have ideas for the programme, so we've extended the deadline from today until the end of the week so you can contribute your ideas.

If you would like to facilitate a NetHui session, see a specific topic discussed or volunteer behind the scenes at NetHui, please let us know by filling in the form here by 4 August: https://2017.nethui.nz/get-involved/

After submissions close on 4 August, we will work with you and others in the community who will create the NetHui programme.

The first step is to hold a NetHui 2017 programme meeting on Wednesday 9 August. This meeting will take place from 5:30 - 6:30pm and you can join at the Auckland or Wellington InternetNZ offices or online. In these meetings we will go over a report that summarises the feedback we have received and discuss the ideas that came through.

Everyone is invited attend this open meeting but we especially hope to see those of you who filled out the form above (and gave us your contact information).

If you want to take part in the NetHui programme meeting on 9 August - but you didn't fill in the form above - please email me at ellen@internetnz.net.nz.

During the week of 14 August we will match and connect people interested in similar topics to work together on discussion sessions, as well as invite panelists and confirm availability for workshops, pre-events and meet-ups for those who have expressed interest in running these.

NetHui 2017 is looking set to be another fantastic event full of diverse perspectives and important conversations about the future of the Internet in New Zealand. Get involved now if you can or you can register to attend and participate here: https://2017.nethui.nz/register/
