Copyright, killing creativity?

We were thrilled to host internationally renowned author, activist, journalist and blogger, Cory Doctorow – our opening speaker for NetHui Copyright 2018. He talked creativity and copyright, digital locks and open source and helped inspire hundreds of conversations throughout the day on changing technologies and behaviour, and the space that leaves for user rights – that’s you! Find out more about copyright and unlocking the creative potential of the internet in our latest paper Getting copyright right in the information age.

NetHui is a collaborative event bringing together anyone and everyone interested in the Internet – how it works, how it could work, and what we can do to unlock its potential. This year, NetHui is going on the road to bring a series of one-day events to communities around the country, and we're looking for ideas for locations, suggestions for topics to cover and potential partners who would like to work with us to host an event in their town or city. Find out more about NetHui Roadtrip 2018 and how to get involved.

Improve broadband to rural communities with your signature

Leanne Schmidt (pictured) lives in the Rai Valley, Marlborough Sounds. The 70 plus residents that reside in this small community travel almost an hour for decent cell phone or internet coverage over a road that is prone to slips and flooding. Leanne’s story is common for many small rural communities across New Zealand. Stand with InternetNZ and get in behind Leanne’s petition. Sign here to show your support for an accessible internet for all New Zealanders.
